Pros and cons of animal rights in our society.

It is an irrefutable fact that in this contemporary world, animals have become an imperative/indispensable part of the human life. Considering this, this essay will examine/ascertain the pros and cons associated with having animal rights in our society.

There are numerous advantages of endorsing the rights for the protection of animals. First and foremost, animal rights will assist in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem, which could be a substantial benefit to be considered. It is generally believed that not only the existence but also the wellbeing of the ecosystem relies on all the species in the ecosystem, which may be hindered in the absence of much-needed animal rights. For example, a recent article published in The Age revealed that the extinction of dinosaurs has affected the ecosystem adversely. In addition, protection of the endangered species could be another noteworthy benefit to be taken into account.

Despite the advantages discussed above regarding the implementation of animal protection rights in our society, there are disadvantages as well, which could not be ignored without a careful consideration. Impeding the medical research could be the single most detrimental impact. It is generally seen that most of the new drugs and medicines are tested on the animals before being used on the humans, which enables the medical researchers to confirm the effectiveness of these drugs. For example, species of monkeys and rats are used to test the safety of many drugs that are later on used to cure the diseases among the humans.

In the end, indeed, although the positive impacts of the animal rights are worth considering, the negative aspects of this trend also need careful addressing.

Irrefutably, sports and games play a pivotal role in a student’s life in addition to education and qualifications. Considering this, there are some analysts who insist that these extra-curricular activities create disturbance in students’ lives by impeding their academic progress. However, I staunchly disagree with the aforementioned rubric.

There is a practical factor which affirms the indispensable role of sports and games in the student life. Enhancing the overall physiological and psychological health could be a significant factor. It is generally seen that involving in physical activities assist the students in developing not only a sound physical but also mental health, which are interdependent for overall growth. Despite the reason discussed above, there are some groups who consider that extra-curricular activities should be avoided during the student life in order to excel. Distraction is the single most significant factor behind opponent’s viewpoint. They generally believe that students' indulgence in these activities, while studying, proves to distract them, which may play a role of an impediment for their academic success. No doubt, distraction could be true up to a certain extent; however, it should also not to be forgotten that a healthy mind lives in a healthy body. If this is the case, would it be wise enough to discourage the participation of students in sports and games?  My answer would be no.

In the end, indeed, disturbance in academics due to overindulgence in the sports activities may be true to some extent, but I still believe that the merits of sports far outweigh the demerits.

Moreover, comparatively low-budgeted tourism to these countries could be another indispensable benefit.

Despite the aforementioned advantages regarding the tourism in underdeveloped countries, there is a disadvantage too, which could not be neglected without a careful consideration. Safety and security of the tourists could a single most detrimental impact. It is generally perceived that the unstable and weaker governmental machinery of these countries is more likely to jeopardize the well-being of the visiting foreign tourists. For instance, recent attacks on foreigners by a group of extremists in Nepal lead to the death of 15 foreign tourists.

The newspaper is no longer a need in the modern society. What is your opinion?

It is an irrefutable fact that newspapers, in this contemporary world, have been an integral part and parcel of our lives for a long time. Considering this, whether newspaper is relevant to this modern society or not is a matter of debate. However, this essay will ascertain both sides of the rubric before deducing a reasonable conclusion.

There is a variety of factors wherein the threat to the existence of newspapers in this tech-savvy society could be supported. Initially, the dominance of electronic media could be a substantial factor to be considered. It is generally seen that the popularity of print media has confronted a severe setback due to the advent of internet, which is more a convenient and cheaper way to access information. For example, a recent article in The Age highlighted/revealed that the use of the popular news apps has increased by 60% in the past two years. Moreover, wastage of resources, like paper and ink, which is not an eco-friendly way, may be another noteworthy factor.

Despite the factors discussed above regarding the diminishing popularity of newspapers, the importance of it in the modern society is even a crucial aspect. Affordability could be a significant factor. It is commonly believed that the newspapers have always been an indispensable part of our lives due to its cheaper prices. Additionally, preference audience for newspapers, such as older population, could be another prominent reason.

In the end, indeed, although newspapers still dominate the proportionate market, as far as I am concerned, the electronic media has made it non-existent in this modern era.

Some people believe laws change human behaviour. Do you agree with it?

Irrefutably, formation and implementation of laws are imperative for providing a congenial environment to the society. Considering this, there are certain analysts who hold the opinion that laws change the behaviour of the humans. However, I staunchly disagree with the aforementioned statement due to a notable reason.

There is a practical factor which affirms that enforcing laws does not play a great deal of role in changing human traits. Rising recidivism rate could be substantial factor. It is generally seen that even after completing the prison term for a crime or undergoing rehabilitation for certain addiction, people go back to the similar old practices. Many hard core criminals and quite a few celebrities could be taken as fortifying examples to substantiate my viewpoint.

Despite the reason discussed above, there are certain proponents who consider that adhering to laws in the society transforms the people. Fear of punishment may be single most significant factor behind opponents’ viewpoint. It may be defined as when one has to face the repercussions in the guise of penalty or imprisonment, people avoid breaking the laws. No doubt, change due to fear could be true to some extent; however, it should not be forgotten that many people have little or no regard for their social and moral responsibilities. If this is the case, would it be wise enough to generalize and say that law changes the behaviour of all the people? My answer would be no.

In the end, indeed, changing behaviour by following law transforms people to some extent, but I still believe that it is hard to change most people completely by making them adhere to laws.
