What
are the advantages and disadvantages if the poorer countries may get a help as
international aid from developed countries?
It is an irrefutable fact that international aid
to the developing and underdeveloped nations, in this contemporary society, should
be an integral part for the policy makers in the developed countries. Considering
this, this essay will ascertain the pros and cons associated with the provision
of financial help to these nations.
There are a number of advantages of providing financial
aid and support to the poorer nations. First and foremost, providing the basic
amenities to people in the under-developed countries could be a substantial
benefit to be considered. It is generally believed that these poor nations do
not have access to resources to avail the basic needs like food, clothing and
shelter to their destitute; therefore, the aid availed by the developed world
will assist the governments in fulfilling these basic requirements. Providing better
medical facilities, nutritious diets, better education etc. could be taken as espousing
examples to substantiate the aforementioned benefit. Moreover, this will build
healthy relations between the countries, which could be taken as another merit
of this noble gesture.
Despite the advantages discussed above regarding
this international aid and support to the poorer nations by the developed
world, there is a disadvantage as well, which could not be neglected without
careful consideration. Misusing the resources could be a single most
detrimental impact to be taken into account. It is commonly seen that in the
absence of effective law enforcement and transparency, these financial aids
could be easily misused not only by the governments but also by the politicians;
therefore, the actual purpose will never be fulfilled.
In the end, indeed, the international aid by the
developed countries to the poorer countries has certain benefits; however,
there are some disadvantages as well which needs careful deliberation.
